Kentville receives help for affordable housing from CMHC

A homebuilder in Kentville, NS is responding to the growing demand for affordable, energy-efficient, single detached homes. System Built Homes (SBH) Limited has designed a line of attractive, modest-sized manufactured housing that is energy efficient and has low maintenance and operating costs. SBH, in association with Maple Leaf Manufactured Homes, designed and developed a line of manufactured housing in 2008 with financial assistance and advice from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Seed Funding was used to conduct housing market studies, develop a business plan, and help cover the costs of the preliminary design. CMHC also provided an interest-free Proposal Development Funding (PDF) loan, which helped cover the costs of engineering, conducting an environmental site assessment and detailed design.
